GCSE Chemistry & Physics Tutor

Hi! I’m Eddie

I’m a Geography Student at a Top 10 UK University. At A-Level, I studied Geography, Economics, and Biology. I also undertook an EPQ, in which I achieved an A*. I’m a Geography tutor working with GCSE and A-level students across CIE, AQA, Edexcel, and OCR.

GCSE Chemistry and Physics tutor

GCSE Chemistry and Physics tutor helping a student revise

I’m Eddie. My tutoring is built around Biology and Geography, where I hold A-level qualifications. I also support students studying GCSE Combined Science, helping them build confidence across Biology, Chemistry and Physics using a structured, exam-focused approach. My aim is to help students understand the specification, apply their knowledge, and improve their exam technique across the sciences.

Alongside my work through Key2, I tutor GCSE students in Chemistry and Physics, both online and in person.

Where a GCSE Chemistry and Physics tutor adds the most value

Many students studying GCSE Combined Science find it difficult to identify which scientific ideas are being tested in a question. A Biology-style question can suddenly require Chemistry knowledge, or a Physics calculation may appear alongside topics from another unit. Learning how the specification is organised and recognising which knowledge to apply can make revision much more effective.

Extended-response questions appear across all three sciences. Even when students know the content, they can lose marks through weak structure or missing key scientific terminology. Developing exam technique alongside subject knowledge helps students communicate their understanding more effectively.

According to GoStudent’s independent study of over 2,600 students, around three in four improved their performance by up to three grades through personalised tutoring. 90% of students who gained confidence also went on to improve their grades.

A quick check you can do tonight

Ask your child to sort three or four recent Combined Science homework questions by which paper — Biology, Chemistry, or Physics — they actually belong to, before answering any of them. If they hesitate on more than one, that’s the real gap: not the content itself, but knowing which content to reach for.

What GCSE Chemistry and Physics tutoring costs

UK GCSE tutoring generally runs £25–£40/hour, with Chemistry and Physics typically sitting toward the top of that range due to high demand for the sciences. My own rates sit well under that range. The Education Endowment Foundation’s research shows properly targeted 1:1 tuition adds 4–5 months of extra progress in a year on average.

What a session with your Chemistry and Physics tutor looks like

Every session starts by identifying the student’s current understanding and the areas they find most challenging. Lessons focus on building confidence through worked examples, exam-style questions and mark-scheme practice, with follow-up tasks where appropriate to reinforce learning.

I’ve tutored Years 4 through 13 across Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, Economics, Maths, and English, both online and in person. I hold an Enhanced DBS check.

Frequently Asked Questions — GCSE Chemistry and Physics Tutor

Do you tutor Chemistry and Physics at A-level too?

My own A-levels are Geography and Biology, so my Chemistry and Physics tutoring is GCSE-level only. Get in touch if you need A-level Chemistry or Physics support specifically, and I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit or point you toward someone who is.

Can you cover all three sciences in the same sessions?

Yes. For students studying GCSE Combined Science, sessions can cover Biology, Chemistry and Physics together, helping students understand how the three sciences fit within the specification and preparing them for exam-style questions.

Do you tutor in person or online?

Both. I’m based in both London & Loughborough and tutor in person locally, with online sessions available for students further afield.

Is Biology still your main science subject?

Yes. If Biology is the priority and Chemistry or Physics are secondary, my dedicated Biology tutoring page is worth starting with instead.

Do you also offer tutoring in other subjects?

Yes – alongside GCSE Chemistry and Physics, I tutor Biology, Geography, Economics, Maths, and English from Years 4 through 13. See the full range of tutoring services here.
